The Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia (CWS) was established in 2008 to provide the opportunity for Malaysians to lend a helping hand in granting the wishes of children afflicted with life-threatening as well as terminal illnesses. Initiated by two founding Board members who lost their nine-year-old daughter to Leukaemia in just 6 weeks from the initial diagnosis in the year 2007, CWS Malaysia embarked on a mission to raise the necessary public funds to help bring a spark of light in the darkest hour of a child’s life.

Ten thousand children nationwide are stricken with diseases which can snatch their lives away. Our bit, although small, brings back a smile and hopes to fight on.

Almost every day there is a child out there who is afflicted with a life-threatening illness or dying from an illness that has drained their chance of a normal life – no more childhood; no more growing up and not a chance of having a family of their own.

CWS Malaysia raises much needed funds to respond to such cases. In the last one year, the Society has successfully managed to bring a smile back to our little recipients. The smile on our first recipient, Ooi Hon Lim 11, still lingers in our mind. The “Thank You” he expressed when he received his portable DVD player still echoes in our mind. His memory stays on with us although he is no longer with us.

Other wishes have come in the form of organizing a birthday party, wanting a chance to see elephants in the zoo, computer games and even visiting a theme park with the family.

All our efforts will come to naught if not for the generous support of the public and corporate sector. Through fundraising drives and publicity via the media, CWS Malaysia spreads the word out to the whole country on how you and I can help bring a smile back to our little unfortunate ones.

We are writing to you today to appeal to your generosity to help us to be financially prepared to respond to a wish immediately. Public and corporate support form an integral part of how speedily we can respond to a wish, sometimes to a child who may only have been given a month to live by their doctor.

We would to extend our invitation to you to become a founding member of The Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia’s “Circle of Friends,” a group of people who understand the concept that a small amount, given consistently by many people, can accomplish great things! We are looking for a group of 100 friends who are willing to give RM1,000.00 or more annually. This will go a long way in meeting our operating needs and ensure we are able to respond rapidly to a request or wish from a child.
